What a busy month we have had....as you know the ash situation during April subsided and eventually our clients all returned home safely if not a little later than planned. I believe that we are going to experience these interruptions for a little while to come yet so at Miss Ellies Travel we are changing our focus to no fly holidays, for the short term. As an island, and a sea faring nation we are lucky to have a wide variety of destinations that can be reached from our shores, including Northern and Southern Ireland, France and the European continent, Scandinavia and of course our own northern shores of the Hebrides and outer Islands of Scotland. There are also many no-fly cruises that depart from Southampton, Dover and Harwich on some of the newest cruise liners some launched only within the last 12 months. Before the Ash cloud descended the first time, we set our selves a challenge to develop our cruise business. We are members of ACE which gives travel agents recognition for training and development and I am delighted that many of our staff are currently working their way through cruise modules earning themselves credits which will support their knowledge and help develop their cruise skills. As you can see, we view the ash cloud as a new challenge and not an obstacle!
But whilst it is a wonderful experience to travel overseas for a holiday and whilst there is some uncertainty of flights, we have our own beautiful country and we have a wide variety of accommodation across the UK to suit all clients, whether that is self catering luxury hotels or country cottages, our staff are here to help you find the perfect break.
Crossing the channel is still an option of course and we have recently signed a new partnership deal with Pierre and Vacancies offering great value self catering accommodation in a wide variety of destinations across Europe. Southern Spain is of course a two day drive but nothing is impossible, and we can assist in planning stops overnight en-route both there and back and of course taking your own car gives you maximum flexibility whilst on holiday and allows a little more room for baggage perhaps, there is always a positive outlook.
Whatever your thoughts are for your summer 2010 holiday, call us at Miss Ellies Travel, we will help you make the most of your break this year.
Best wishes
Denise
