This fantastic gem of a resort nestles at the foothills of the surrounding pine clad Taurus mountains.
Blessed with perhaps the most beautiful lagoon in the world Olu Deniz is much more sedate than its noisy neighbour Hisaronu. Built in a low rise style with some fantastic hotels such as Lykkia World this resort is a sun worshippers paradise.
Olu Deniz is particularly popular with families, its no wonder given the relaxed atmosphere and perfect lagoon with its safe swimming, the waters in the lagoon, although tidal, are almost still and the shade of the numerous pine trees protect young skin during the scorching heat of the day. Great water sports facilities are available here including diving and banana boats! Or maybe a para-glide from the mountain which lands you directly on the beach is more up your street? If you are looking for something less hair raising try the surrounding hills that have some great trails to explore.
The nightlife here is much more low key than that of Hisaronu, there are a few bars on the seafront that offer music and dance, restaurants serve international cuisine along with traditional Turkish kebab in the main but there are also steaks and pizza to be found.
Olu Deniz is easily explored on foot but for visits to nearby places such as Fethiye, Ovacik and Kayo Koy (the village deserted by the Greeks) the regular dolmus bus services are an inexpensive and fun form of transport.
For sight seeing options try the Letoön, a pretty temple complex now largely inhabited by frogs! Combine a visit to the smaller sites of Pinara and Tlos with an afternoon in the spectacular canyon at Saklikent where you are able to walk through an icy river that thunders through the steep rock walls, this is a highly recommended excursion.
